Bellydance
Marissa’s love of music is so vast, it cannot be contained in one medium. Beginning her dance training in ballet and jazz, she gravitated towards the rhythmic language of belly dance and the daring and mysterious world of fire dance. In 2007, she spent three months performing as a belly dancer for audiences of hundreds in India. She danced in the Bollywood films “Hey Baby” and “Hastey Hastey”.
Fire Dance
Marissa is the creator and producer of the multi-media fire dance troupe, Dames en Feu. Performances of fire dancing, theater, live music, and spoken word have been presented at the Bushwick Starr in Brooklyn, Winston Square Park in Winston Salem, and for the Lakota Native American tribe on Standing Rock Reservation in the Dakotas.
Marissa is sought as a performer for traditional opportunities, but also for her willingness to experiment, innovate, and defy structure.
