Marissa is classically trained clarinetist who can't sit still. After getting a Bachelor's degree from The New England Conservatory of Music and  a Master's from Mannes College of Music, she started venturing on the wilder side.

She is a sought out clarinetist for contemporary music, having performed numerous world premieres and has worked

with Madeleine Shapiro of Modern Works and composers Jorge Sosa, Bright Sheng, Osvaldo Golijov, and Tania Leon.

With her classical music background and study of Eastern European style clarinet playing, Marissa’s performances have extended beyond traditional boundaries. She has championed composer Betty Olivero’s music to the silent film Der Golem for klezmer clarinet and string quartet with performances live with full screening at Symphony Space’s Thalia in New York City and as a guest with the Pittsburgh Jewish Music Festival.

As an orchestral clarinetist, she has performed with the Boston Civic Symphony, One World Symphony, the Opera Orchestra of the Martina Arroyo Foundation and the Winston Salem Symphony.

A series of solo recitals early in her career culminated in an invitation in 2000 to perform a solo recital at the Reynolda House Museum of American Art which was presented to a sold out crowd.

Marissa has entered the dance hall with her clarinet and dance combined through a collaboration with composer and electronic music genius ALEX KOTCH.

She has started writing her own music finally, which follows no particular genre, but incorporates electronic beats and vocals. The clarinet is the voice that changes hats- from a classical sound to klezmer- with a hint of old time siren songs.

After she finished her degrees in clarinet performance, Marissa decided to continue her music education in orchestral conducting. In 2010, Marissa conducted The Diary of Anne Frank, a chamber opera by Grigori Frid in a performance with mezzo soprano Sandra Schwarzhaupt at the JCC in Manhattan, attended by the Consulate General of Austria. She also conducted the premiere performance of The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner, a play by Anna Moench with music by David Moench as a part of the New York Fringe Festival.
